A-LEVEL APPLIED ICT

This course allows us to develop skills in all aspects of ICT and to understand how it has impacted on so many areas of our lives.

Year One AS
Unit 1: The Information Age:  Investigates the Internet, its contribution to the 'information age' and the services it provides. We discuss the positive and negative aspects of ICT and develop your practical ICT skills conducting Internet-based research and using multimedia to develop an ebook.

Unit 2: The Digital Economy:  Examines how the Internet has transformed the business world with the advent of the world wide web and electronic transactions. This unit requires you to develop an ebook.

Unit 3:  This unit examines the role of the knowledge worker and their ability to make informed decisions using modelling tools and techniques and will explore a range of different spreadsheet models  2 hr examination.

Year Two A2
Unit 7: Using Database Software: Working under supervision, you will be required to design, implements and test a relational database system to meet a given set of functional requirements

Unit 8: Managing ICT Projects: You will need to research and produce a proposal for a new software product, present your local proposal to senior management and draw up a project definition that defines the scope of the project once this has been agreed.

Unit 10: Using Multimedia Software: You will design, produce, test and evaluate a multimedia product to meet a given set of functional requirements
