A LEVEL BUSINESS STUDIES
Business Studies A level is a modular course with an emphasis on understanding the nature and working of business and industry.
The course is designed to help students understand the importance of problem solving within a business context. The A level consists of 4 units and the AS level consists of 2 units.
AS Year 1
1. An introduction to Business
Students will study the nature of business, the classification of business, business objectives and external influences on business. This unit is assessed through a one-hour examination based on a pre-released case study.
2. Business Functions
Students will study how business organisations behave with respect to marketing, people, operations and finance. This unit is assessed through a two-hour examination based on a pre-released case study.
A2 Year 2
3. Optional Unit
Students will choose to study one of the following areas of business activity in more depth:
Marketing
Accounting
People in Organisations
Production
This optional unit is based on a two-hour examination based on an unseen case study.
6. Strategic Management
Students will study how business organisations plan, develop, implement and review new strategies. This unit is assessed through a two-hour examination based on an pre-released case study.
