A LEVEL PERFORMANCE STUDIES

The course combines dance, drama and music projects which develop performance skills and an understanding of these arts. Students will study performance styles and practitioners.

The course, which is both practical and academic, demands physical, artistic and intellectual participation.

Year One AS

Unit 1 : Creating a Performance - a foundation unit in dance, drama and music. Examined by a 2000 word essay and performance projects.

Unit 2 : Performance Contexts 1 - in depth studies in two areas chosen from dance, drama and music. 2 hour written examination.

Year Two A2

Unit 3 : Performance Contexts 2 - for this unit you will study two genres from choices such as The Musical, Modern Dance or Political Theatre
2 hour written examination.

Unit 4 : Performance Projects - a group performance of student created work from a list of starting points given by the examining board and performances based on the repertoire of two dance, drama or music practitioners.
