A LEVEL TEXTILE ART
Textile Art involves the creation, selection and manipulation of textiles across a variety of practices and involves a number of techniques and processes. Constructed, dyed and printed textiles are some of the disciplines that are explored. An experimental approach is encouraged and students are expected to develop their skills in drawing and recording, using a number of different methods and media as well as investigating and manipulating a wide range of materials such as wire, paper, fabric, plastics and wool.
This syllabus is intended for:
those students who wish to pursue further studies in the Art and Design field.
those who wish to take up careers for which an Art and Design background is essential.
Those who have an interest and aptitude in the subject but do not wish to take it beyond A level.
The requirements for AS and A2 are as follows:
Year One AS
1 unit of coursework (carried out in the first 2 terms) - 60% of total marks
1 terminal examination (externally set) 8 hours duration - 40% of total marks
Year Two A2
1 unit of coursework to include a Critical/Historical study - 60% of total marks
1 terminal examination (externally set) 12 hours - 40% of total marks
