A-LEVEL TRAVEL & TOURISM - ADVANCED SINGLE AWARD

This is a two-year vocational course enabling students to develop skills and knowledge relevant to the rapidly expanding Travel & Tourism industry.  It is an excellent qualification providing opportunities to enter employment in the industry or go on to further or higher education.

Year One AS
Unit 1: Introducing travel & tourism
Students will investigate the nature of the travel & tourism industry in the UK: its size and structure plus recent changes and developments within it  1 ½ hr exam based on pre-released case study.

Unit 2: Customer service in travel & tourism
Students will investigate the importance of customer service and carry out detailed research into its practices in one travel & tourism organisation. Coursework project- internally assessed, externally moderated.

Unit 3: Travel destinations
Students will investigate a range of travel & tourism destinations and will be required to carry out detailed research into two different types of destination. Coursework project- internally assessed, externally moderated

Year Two A2
Unit 4: Tourism development
Students will investigate tourism: its agents, its impact and the objectives of different types of tourism organisations  1 ½ hr exam. 

Unit 5: Event management
Students will work as a part of a team to organise and manage an event.  Coursework project  internally assessed, externally moderated
