Adult Learning Course Fees

Fees

Course fee key - Each course has the fee information shown next to it in the brochure / course descriptors.

All fees usually include any examination and accreditation costs. They do not include any books and materials.

     •   Full fee
This is the cost of the course, normally including examination fees, for full fee payers.

Discounted fees

We have a range of discounts on our courses:

     •   Concessionary fee
This fully discounted fee is offered to all our students taking examinations or accredited courses,           eg English GCSE, who are receiving an income based benefit*, see below. These courses are
marked ‘V’ in the brochure, eg V57. This is a Registration fee and it means that you do not
normally pay tuition costs or examination or assessment fees.

     •   College special fee
Less than 5 GCSEs A*-C or age 60+ - This partially discounted fee is offered to students on all our
courses who do not have 5 GCSEs at A* - C and/or are aged 60 plus. It normally includes
examination fees. This partially discounted fee is also offered to all our students taking
non-accredited courses, eg Alexander Technique, who are receiving an income based benefit*,
see below. These courses are not marked ‘V’ in the brochure, eg 03.

Income based benefits are:

  • Working Tax Credit and with an eligible household income
  • Income Support
  • Job Seekers’ Allowance
  • Housing/Council Tax Benefit
Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Pensions Guarantee Credit
  • all who are the unwaged (as defined by Jobcentre Plus) dependants of someone receiving an income based benefit .
Please note this does not apply to full-time students who are exempt from Council Tax unless they are in receipt of one of the other income-based benefits listed.
     •   No fee
No fee is payable by students aged 16 to 18 (under 19 on 31.08.08) taking part in many
          vocational courses.
All ‘Skills for Life’ courses; some community venue based courses and some special taster courses
are also sometimes free of charge.

In order to pay discounted fees students must be able to provide written documentary evidence on enrolment for courses marked ‘V’ in the brochure and by the start date of the course for all other courses.

Please ring us on 422632 for full details and advice. We may, for example, be able to offer staged payments to help you pay your course fees.
