Modern Foreign Languages
Modern Languages are taught throughout the College, from Year 7 throughto the Sixth Form.
In Year 7 students get a taste of both French and Spanish,
studying
each language for about half a year.
In Year 8, most students
concentrate on one language, although there are two groups of Double Linguists,
i.e. students who feel able to cope with two languages and have shown particular aptitude in Year 7.
In Key Stage 4, students can opt to continue with their languages through to GCSE, which is normally taken in the summer of their Year 11.
Those who wish to can continue to A Level at the Sixth Form, where NVQ Spanish is also offered. There is also the option of a new German for Business course.
