Football is very popular at the Sports Centre all year round. Access to the sports hall is limited on weekday winter evenings. Availability is much better at weekends.

The Sports Centre also offers a floodlit full size synthetic grass pitch which is usually hired out by the half pitch for team training or for games up to 8-A-Side. The pitch is extensively used all the year round. For details of availability contact the Manager on 01273-411100 5-A-Side

The cost of hiring a hall for an hour is £36.00 Half the synthetic grass pitch £22.00 or £33.00 with flood lights. Seasonal bookings can cost less as they can be regarded as exempt from VAT.

Football is very popular with children and football birthday parties take place every weekend. A member of the Centre Staff organises the games, penalty shoot outs etc., while the parents look on and prepare the party food.

Junior Football

We offer an ‘open’ session for 5-8 year olds on Mondays from 4.15-5.30pm each week. This is a great introduction for youngsters to gain the basic knowledge and skills required to be able to take part in small-sided games and join local ‘junior’ football clubs. The coaches begin each session with a warm up and then move on to teach the basic techniques in passing, dribbling, movement and shooting, using a variety of football related ‘fun games’ that will help children to progress to a more competent level. Then for the last half hour they will be able to transfer their skills into a game situation. The session is led by one of the qualified football coaches on the Sports Centre staff. The session fee is £2.50 payable at reception on arrival and takes place most weeks, stopping sometimes during the school holidays. Please ring before you come for the first time just to check times.
