A film about anti-social behaviour in Portslade
Young people and youth workers at the Village Centre are developing a short film. The film is called ‘WHO’S TO BLAME?’ and is going to look at anti-social behaviour in Portslade and surrounding areas. The reason for this short film is to try and identify the root cause of the problem and to try and put together ideas on how to find solutions to these problems. The ideas from young people will be put to local practitioners where shared solutions to problems will be sought.

.
We have been asking a range of different people across the community; shop owners, young people, P.C.S.O’s, police, school teachers , youth workers, community workers, local Councillors etc to comment on a series of questions that have been put together by young people about anti social behaviour.
A day was set-aside during half term for young people to interview people from across the community. They had a great response, with ten people coming into the Village Centre to be interviewed. Councillor Bob Carden, the anti Social Behaviour Team, Manger of Mile Oak Clinic, Landlady from The Stag Pub and members of Portslade Youth Forum were some of the people who took part.

The young people are gaining knowledge and experience whilst being involved in the
production of this film through:
- Learning about the camera and its basic functions
- Interview techniques
- How the criminal justice system works
- ‘The community’ and how other people from different generations feel
- Film editing techniques
- A perspective of their own behaviour with in their community
- Knowledge of outside agencies and how they work with young people

Interview questions
We would like you to discuss the following questions:
- In regards to anti social behaviour what would you say were the main reasons?

- What are your main concerns in Portslade?
- If you could have extra support for young people in Portslade who would it be from?
- Who’s to blame? (This question is being asked to all involved with the film and we are asking for very short answers)
